| In this activity, students will compare the temperature of dry sand and wet sand underneath heat lamps, simulating sun hitting the sand at the beach. They will use the temperature sensor to record the temperature of the sand at 30 second intervals for five and a half minutes. | |
| Students will then use the calculator to create a connected scatter plot of both sets of data comparing the slopes side by side. They will answer the questions on the worksheet to help analyze the data and determine the effect of evaporation on heating rates. This activity includes a TI-Navigator extension that can be used to explore exponential functions. |
